Text of My Speech

Zero trips to the emergency room. One friend I trust with my whole entire life. Three different elementary schools. Five trips to the piano convention for California’s top amateur pianists. Eight years with the world’s meanest rabbit. Seventy-three pet fish have been flushed down the toilet during my lifespan. Four hundred and fifty-four Facebook friends. My life at the age of 13 so far is considered boring to some, and amazing to others, but to me, it’s simply extraordinary.

Hello, I’m Shannon T. I’m a freshman in high school and will be graduating with the class of 2014. I currently play the piano and clarinet, and I swim and play tennis in my free time. I hope to accomplish all of my high school goals throughout my time here, but also the numerous achievements for my life afterword.

First of all, academically, I'd like to earn a 4.0 or higher. If not, I don't want to get anything lower than a 3.0. I know it's hard to get an A in honors classes, so I will try my hardest to achieve this goal. I want to work to get out of FIRE next semester, and to stay out of it. During my four years of high school, I'd like to join the swim team or tennis team and make it into Varsity by my senior year. Finally, I recently joined the debate team and I aim to be one of the best.

Next, I have many hopes for my social life during my high school years. I will attempt to not have many, or if possible any, enemies. I hope to make more friends, even more then I already have made. Being nice to everyone is another goal I aspire to attain, though I know I can't be friends with everyone. While making new friends, I will try to keep my old ones. To sum it up, I'd like to make and maintain many friends during high school and beyond.

For the future, I'd like to graduate high school with a 4.0, in hope that I will receive scholarships from universities. It will be a challenge, but a challenge I'm willing to take. Going to a four-year university is a major goal of mine. At the moment, I would like to go to UCLA. And as of the present day, it's my dream to major in law and become a lawyer for civil cases or to become a writer. Eventually I will want to get married, raise a family, have my own house, and have a job I love. The specifics aren't laid out in front of me just yet, but I can picture a fuzzy, vague image.

After I've accomplished all of my major goals, well I'm not sure of my future after that. My mind will change as my future isn't set in stone. Achieving that 4.0 or staying friends with all my old friends won't be easy, but then again, everything in life won't be simple. When facing a challenge, you don't just give up, you strive to get what you want. I'm going to live life with this in mind and always remembering to ''never give up''.
